The Lovers #6

el colgado 12 513x893

Balance. Everything is in its place. A call to be in the present moment.

The Lovers ("El Enamoradors") is card #6 of the 'Glenda's Tarot' digital work by Glenda Leon.

It symbolizes union, synchrony, a lucky encounter, and the inextinguishable force of love. Love not only as the one we feel towards another person but as the internal capacity of each individual to enjoy and surrender in each action that he develops. The flame of each candle represents the inner light of each individual, and the light developed from this encounter, which is more intense and encompasses the entire visual field, is the eternal light of love. If the devil extinguished the fire of love, the lover prolongs this flame by changing the course of reason (candles go back in time to meet their flames).

This card should remind us that what we seek outside is inside. That before looking for a balance, or an encounter, we must check if we really shine inside.

Tarot - The practice of tarot emerged in Italy around the 15th century as a form of entertainment, which later spread to much of Europe. The Major Arcana are 22 individual numbered cards, each one represented by a character or symbol, such as the Fool, Death, the Wheel of Fortune, among others. Before the emergence of the printing press, tarot cards were illustrated by hand, being commissioned by artists as if they were a pictorial or sculptural work. This tradition has continued throughout history, and more recently, we have seen recreations of tarot designs made by artists such as Salvador Dalí, Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo, among other artists who have been attracted to the deep mysticism around the subject and the visual impact of tarot cards.
